Vacation Hot Spot...Destination: Leesburg!

411 is the PLACE TO BE!! It feels so good to be home after spending too much of the past year away and working. My job has been a 7-day availability, meaning I rarely had 2 days off in a row, also meaning I hardly ever made the 3.5 hour drive back to Leesburg. Mom and Dad came down to Newport News and Williamsburg to visit me a couple of times (which is always very much appreciated) but it is a whole different story to just be HOME. Even on the rare occasions that I did make it back to Leesburg, it was hardly ever relaxed. The visits were always too short with too much going on (such as Katie's extreme wedding!).

Being able to sleep in til 8:30 and wake up to coffee, made by Dad, can't be beat. Plus I get to stay in my PJs until it is time to run some errands around town with Mom. Yesterday we were on the hunt for tacky lawn gnomes for my new townhouse, which brought us to a junky yardsale and a few thrift stores. We stopped by Costco to fill up on free samples (and to do some shopping I guess), and the perfect finish to our day of errands: walking to Safeway for ice cream!!

I even made a delicious blueberry streusal from scratch!! It was absolutely delicious, especially with the vanilla ice cream that we got from Safeway...

The other day was a special event in Leesburg. It was the "9/11 Ride" where literally hundreds of motorcyclists ride from the Flight 93 crash site in Pennsylvania to the Pentagon and then finally to NYC to the World Trade Center site. Part of the route for these hundreds of motorcycles was through downtown Leesburg, and right past our house. It was really something incredible to watch!!
