This is embarrassing. Has it really been that long since I've posted? That my last real post was about my trip to California??
I'm in California right now. Getting ready to go home. But it isn't November anymore...it is March. And this is a completely separate trip.
This is very embarrassing. I apologize to Uncle Bill, who sent me an email threatening to take his blog reading elsewhere (Please don't leave just yet! Give me another chance!) And poor Katie who, as I am writing this from her cute little MacBook Air, has "Life at Jamestown" bookmarked and a little tab pops up on her screen as soon as you log on to the internet. You know how I'm gonna handle this? Ignore it. Pretend that it hasn't been over 3 months since I last posted. And you know what? So much has happened that I want to write about, its like a huge wall that I can't quite climb over...not just yet. It's been keeping me from even trying to write a blog because I have no idea where to start back up. So I'm going to sit right here, with my back up against that metaphorical wall, and write about the present. My goal, of course, will be to someday post about the fun things I've done since oh-my-gosh-November-19. But this is MY BLOG and I'M IN CHARGE and I'm going to write what I want. Hmmph...
So! I'm in California!! I've had an absolutely wonderful time all week. I always have an absolutely wonderful time when I'm out here. Each visit gets harder and harder, and I have to seriously remind myself of all the reasons why I haven't moved out here. In fact, I just met up with my brother John for lunch and as we were saying our goodbyes, I asked, "Will I see you again before I leave?" He responded with, "Probably not, but you'll be moving out here soon enough." He might be right. Who knows? Certainly not me...all I know is that I just can't get enough of this place. The past two days have been drizzly and rainy and STILL gorgeous. In fact, today it was raining AND sunny, all at once! Can you beat that??
I'm glad I came out for this visit, not because California is apparently one of my favorite place to be, but because I had a great time with Katie. She's got one crazy life: student teaching all day plus being a full-time student getting her masters from Stanford. Throw in a bunch of extras like having a frustrating environment at work, still receiving wedding gifts nine months later that require thank you notes, having to deal with a house guest (ME!) annnnnnd she's an RC widow. I don't expect many of you to understand that last one, but take my word, it is serious haha. I think I was successful in trying to help her get some of the stresses in her life sorted out (there's no helping that RC widow thing though).
So I love this place, but I have some great things to look forward to back in VA. My parents, Chip (my hedgehog for those of you who forgot!), friends, DAVE (he's pretty important), and oh yea that job of mine. I've been enjoying a 2 month paid vacation (starting Jan 10 and I go back next week) but now it's time to get back into the real world. I think the blogs will start flowing a bit easier then, because I'll be back with those little darlings and their gems. I'll be back to seeing the great state of VA and fall in love with it all over again.
